Why you need Search Engine Optimisation
Long gone are the days of people writing down your web address and typing it in to a browser address bar.
There’s no longer an option: if you want to be found you must be on Google. And a third page listing won’t do: you need to get on to the first page.
What is Search Engine Optimisation?
Wikipedia has a good definition of Search Engine Marketing: “Search engine marketing, or SEM, is a form of Internet marketing that seeks to promote websites by increasing their visibility in search engine result pages (SERPs) through the use of search engine optimization, paid placement, contextual advertising, and paid inclusion.” Note that SEM encompasses a number of disciplines, chief among them:
- Search engine optimisation
- Paid placement – otherwise known as Pay Per Click or PPC
